Net carbs, which is what most people look at for low carb and keto, are total carbs (the amount on the label) minus fiber and sugar alcohols, as explained in the article above.     Hi Sydney, I’m a 39 yo male (healthy and active) and am 2+ months into an IF protocol of about 16/8. The lack of eating hasn’t been hard for me at all (surprisingly), and I’ll easily sometime not eat until 5-6 in the evening, even after a quick hiit/strength routine. The hardest part, however, has been the the sleep aspect. I had the heart pounding and sleepless nights as well. Watched some Tim Ferriss videos and he also mentions it (he hadn’t looked into what was causing it yet). Online people are saying that your body will adjust, and that seems to finally be happening for me after a few spotty weeks of some really late/rough nights. Anyway, just wanted to let you know that I’ve seen a lot of men talk about it too. Only explanation I’ve read about is that it’s boosted adrenaline from the fasting (this was a very non scientific hypothesis). I actually also wrote to Mark to see if he could address it in one of his posts. I love everything else about the technique so will continue pushing through and experimenting. Nest I plan on extended fasting with exo ketones. Good luck everyone!

    My conclusion could not be more positive for this ketone ester and the future of ketone ester supplementation. I’m incredibly interested in developments made in this field.     Avocado’s are a huge staple food for most keto dieters and we’re no different. You might be able to find a good deal on premade guacamole though. If that’s the case, feel free to go for that and sub out the avocado. If you don’t like broccoli or cauliflower you can try mushrooms or zucchini. If you don’t like any of those you should probably learn to like vegetables!!! But you could also just double down on the salad.

The first group of 18 were instructed to follow a Mediterranean ketogenic diet for four weeks. They had an average age of 56.3 years and mean BMI of 29.34. Researchers instructed the second group of 17 subjects to follow the same ketogenic diet and also take three fish-oil supplements containing omega-3 fatty acids per day. These subjects had an average age of 58.1 years and a mean BMI of 29.17.
