I lost about 15 lbs in 2 weeks, Feb.15th, which is the norm (Usually I lose anywhere from 15- 20lbs). However, today Feb.24th, I have barely lost 1lb. Now, this is not the norm… I have a lot of weight to lose. I started at 305 on the 1st and is 289.6 today. I have been intermittent fasting from the very beginning; fasting for 16 hrs a day. Maybe I am not eating enough? I usually eat bacon and eggs with onions and cheese in the morning (10am), a meat and salad for lunch (1:30-3:30pm) and sometimes I do not get the opportunity to eat my last meal because it is too late when I get home from work or I am not hungry. I drink about 6-7 bottles of water each day. I have not added fruit or nuts to my diet yet. As far as I know, I am not diabetic and have no thyroid problems. My clothes are fitting loser than before. I am 41 yrs old. Am I being impatient? In 1 month of starting low carb, I have ALWAYS lost at least 20lbs in one month and lose about 8-10 lbs each month thereafter. What could I possibly be doing wrong or should I just give it some more time. Either way, I do not plan to quit this time because my way of eating in the past made me physically feel worse.

Your protein intake may be too high or too low. Protein is the most macronutrient that will keep you full for longer.     I am strength-training five days per week and meet with a power-lifting coach for 30 minutes every Saturday morning to make sure my form is good on large compound barbell lifts such as back squats, deadlifts, bench presses, military presses, and the like. I do not do much cardio, though I did compete in a 5K this spring. I just found it was not for me. I am a big proponent of choosing exercise you enjoy so that you actually do it. It should not be a chore.
    Some of the foods you eat can have more carbs than you realize. These hidden carbs can put you over your daily carb limit and bust your weight loss efforts.
    On top of that, she predicted the diet might make me extra-cranky, too. That’s because I’d be cutting out both complex carbohydrates (whole grains, potatoes, beans, fruits, and even some vegetables) and simple carbs (the kind found in soda, candy, and my beloved gelato). And complex carbs make you feel good, she says, but not in a sugar-high kind of way. They create more serotonin in the brain, one of those happy chemicals we love, and without those slight lifts, keto dieters often feel irritable.

    Thank you for the informative information.  I have used atkins in the past with huge results.  I am 54 years old and now the old way that once gave me great weight loss is not.  I have used splenda, diet coke, low carb everything and lost tons of weight.  I seem to not lose the same amount as before.  I will try your recommendations, it will be hard to give up fake sugar coffee in the morning though!!! I also get huge cravings in the evening after dinner.  I have been using 1gram sugar free bars to get me past the cravings but like I said I have stalled.  
    While the short-term effects of the keto diet seem positive for weight loss, some experts advise caution. In fact, this diet ranks No. 39 out of 40 diets reviewed by U.S. News & World Report.

    After 5 to 6 months of full-on keto, I hit my target weight (160), and decided to ease myself out of it. To start, I basically continued eating according to the diet’s guidelines, but stopped logging and tracking my food, choosing to use my own judgment rather than have the diet dictate my life. Then, little by little, I re-introduced some carbs back into my system, like fruits and some vegetables.     I’m not sure if you’re still struggling with fluid intake…but I found a Vega brand sugar and carb free electrolyte mix that really helped replenish my electrolytes in those first couple weeks, and when I find I might not be getting anough micronutrients or water intake. Yellow peppers are also an amazing source of potassium.

    As far as physical performance, my first run on day two and my second run on day four both felt normal. My third run did not. Day five might’ve been my keto flu day. I felt so run-down. I figured it was because I ran 12 miles the day before, but in hindsight, it might’ve been a ketosis side effect. Then, my run on day nine was the kicker. I had no energy. I felt winded and my heart was beating rapidly, even when I was running at snail pace.
