I do realise that there is sugar (casein) there etc, of course.

  3. The macros calculator gives me a total daily calorie intake of a bit over 1200 kcals for 4kg weight loss per month, while the calculation above gives me a suggested kcal intake of 1440 kcals. I followed the equations to a ‘T’, so not sure which one to follow. Im already on a 1200 kcal/day meal plan with intermittent fasting and not losing much, 3k in 6 weeks, what am I doing wrong?? Thanks for the awesome equations though, it’s very insightful to look at the whole breakdown of all the elements that go into weight loss, awesome!
    There is a ton of new evidence that suggests that a Ketogenic lifestyle is MUCH better to a high-carb diet. I suggest that you read some of it instead of only relying on what you were taught in 1999 and what you read or learn from mainstream literature. I do not deny that one can achieve great results on a high carb diet. But it doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s the best and healthiest way.

    I’m being sarcastic of course. I love the keto diet but I hate diet cultism, whether that be from vegans, paleo people, or fat loving keto enthusiasts. 
    Ketone supplements are supposed to help elevate ketone bodies in the blood so one can get into ketosis quicker. With keto diets becoming so popular, and people always wanting quick results, the demand for ketone supplements has increased. We are seeing brands popping up everywhere. I will speak more on exogenous ketone supplements in another subsection of this blog series.

    Quantitative PCR for three genes – nephrin, podocin and ZO-1 (Tjp1, tight junction protein 1) – was carried out on separate 384-well plates using primers purchased from SABiosciences and normalized to expression levels of Rpl13a (Ribosomal protein L13a). The qPCR reactions were carried out using an ABI Prism 7900 thermocycler with conditions specified by SABiosciences for their RT2 qPCR Primer Assays.
