  7. @ john – Interesting, but notice that the authors of this paper discuss ketogenic diets for cancer in the category “emerging evidence” rather than “strong evidence.” Their conclusion is actually quite conservative: “ketogenic diets show promise as an aid in at least some kind of cancer therapy and is deserving of further and deeper investigation—certainly the evidence justifies setting up clinical trials.” Orac acknowledges as much in his post; what he’s criticizing is someone who is making claims that far exceed the evidence, associating with known snake oil salesmen, and untruthfully implying that “conventional” oncology has some huge blind spot regarding the metabolic nature of cancer.
