Low-Fat vs Low-Carb—Which is Best?

More nutrition tips and videos:

Good morning everyone and Happy Monday!

Low-fat or Low-Carb….? This has been a controversial topic since Robert Atkins came out with the Atkins diet with the two camps in fervent opposition. Which one is best? If you want to lose weight, feel great and keep yourself healthy long-term, which diet is right for you?

In today’s Motivational Monday I am going to talk about the results of a recent study, funded by the National Institutes of Health, that seems to answer this very question. The study followed 150 people from diverse backgrounds for one year. Half were asked to follow a low-carb diet while the others were asked to follow a low-fat diet and the results were interesting.

One diet was particularly beneficial for weight loss and heart disease and in today’s video you can find out which one it was. But is that the final say? Would you change your eating habits based on this study alone? Watch the video and see what you think.

Once you do I’d love to hear from you! Do you follow a low-fat or a low-carb diet? Have you ever followed one only to then switch to the other? If so, what were the results for you? I’d love to hear in the comments below….

Eating well and staying healthy is a journey that needs to be engaged every day… whatever diet you choose, I encourage you to eat a whole foods diet…. essentially, foods as they exist in nature. That one habit alone can go a long way towards optimizing your health.

Have a great Monday everyone and a happy week!

  • I agree, its all about balance.  Its not what you eat that does the damage , its the amount and the time you eat it.  enjoy the foods that bring you pleasure, just don't overdo it,   I always say , the food that you eat with absolute pleasure, in small amounts can do wonders than healthy foods that you cant stand eating.

  • Thanks! Great info!

  • Love low carb diet! Love good fats!

  • Can u please tell us what non-starchy veggies are good to eat and how to cook them so that they still contain all the minerals that are good for us.

  • and that's why I'm on the paleo wagon!

  • sounds like the low fat group was not getting enough calories.

  • This video is where you lost me. Check out a Whole Food Plant Based Diet, it is the healthiest diet. Just the fact that this video tried to imply that cheese and meat reduces your percent in getting heart issues blows my mind! I truly hope you don't believe that.

  • I eat everything not one fits all. Watch Bizzare Foods and see what people eat all over the world. Most of them balance it out.

  • The True Atkins diet, is not a high protein diet.  Once he died, people perverted his diet.  I am on the ketogenic diet which is a high fat diet, I get between 70 and 85 grams of protein and I eat lots of greens.
