She is a practicing family physician, educates doctors on low carb and is active in and former president of the American Society of Bariatric Physicians (doctors specializing in treating obese patients).

  • My daughter drinks lots of water and urinates with the same rate, there are no other symptoms to show if those have anything to do with diabetes.   • Don't forget to mention that your meats and eggs and fish MUST come from free range, organic, wild caught, GMO feed and hormone and antibiotic free. And fruits and vegetables should be organic. Avoiding grains, dairy, legumes and all sugars is best practice.

  • High carb diet might be ok for those who are in the gym regularly, but it's definitely not for those that aren't exercising much because it will make you stay at the same weight or make you gain. I lost a lot of weight on a low carb + intermittent fasting diet with low to moderate amount of exercise per week.

  • obesity explained = In the 80s in my home town population approx 80.000. There was 2 chippy ( fish and chips) . There was one Chinese takeaway all about 1 mile walk away from each other. Now in 2016 the Population is approx 132.000 there is 3 McDonald's. KFC, Mexican. Pizza Hut. burger king. Not counting chip shops . Chinese. kebabs…..

  • It really is that simple and I wonder why my doctor or diabetic nurse didn't tell me leaving me to work this out for myself? I costs virtually nothing btw.
    This is a lot simpler than it sounds. There is no reason whatsoever
    to pay for a book or a diet plan. Simply cut the carbs down to almost
    zero, one piece of toast in the morning for example. Regular and
    inexpensive chicken in breadcrumbs with a nice salad with coleslaw,
    tomatoes etc. Eat pretty much as you want. Cheap yoghorts, cheese on
    thins for a snack, as much coffee as you want. Like the lady says, don't
    be scared of fat, olive oil or even full cream. It wont hurt you. Its
    the root vegatables and the bread that make you fat and you can
    live without them. Feeling really hungry? Have an orange or tangerine
    with drinking chocolate at night, No one wants to go to bed starving. I
    have no liking for salads myself but with a whole beef burger (no bun)
    it ain't so bad. I was very overweight and type 2 diabetic, horribly
    diabetic and now I've lost 40 pounds and not diabetic any longer, no
    Metformin and no Insulin, I'm cured and it was all so simple. I wish I
    could say I got this advice from my own doctor or practice nurse but in
    truth I just worked it out for myself. I keep testing for blood sugar
    and its never over 5. PS My old clothes are now useless. My shirts look
    like tents!

  • I know now I shouldn't hide my condition again from people around, this has not helped me all these while. I am 24, female and has been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes about 18 months ago. I have been on my medications and tried to maintain the healthy lifestyle, but not many around me know my health condition. But I just learned that letting them know will create an awareness, to them on how to manage the disease with the accompanying symptoms.

It started with me always feeling tired after eating as if I were drugged. This will cause me to retire early to bed. I would get very thirsty sometimes and visited the urinary frequently. I was 55 then and started gaining some extra pounds. I was so sluggish. Later the diagnosis revealed I have diabetes and hypertension. But now I feel so much better. I really love this stuff.

  • The obvious is this: The Food Industry has for years and years thrown money to government and thus the two have bamboozled Americans to believe that carbohydrates are good for them and Fat is poison.

    Follow the money. Who benefited the most monetarily? Food Industry and politicians.

    Law suits, similar to the ones brought against the tobacco industry, should be brought against the Food Industry as I'm certain they possessed scientific data that showed carbs lead to obesity, diabetes and death and yet knowingly, donated to politicians to influence government USDA/FDA rulings favorable to the food industry.

    Sue Coca Cola along with Pepsico, Sue Arther Daniels Midland, Sue General Mills, Kellogs, Post, Nestle, etc etc etc.

    Simultaneously, educate, educate, educate the public. Begin with the Doctors, Bloggers, celebrities…educate, educate, educate!

  • I like her focus on metabolic health over obesity. Granted, I'd like to lose weight as well, but the family propensity towards diabetes and heart disease is what scares me.
